a) You'll never be sure until you try ;)
b) You would not have to maintain it on both ends, it would only make
the patching job easier.
But it's ok if you don't want to go deeper into git only for this case.
Just one more question from a specfile noob like me:
Regarding the two big rpm based distros like RedHat (CentOS, Fedora,
etc) and Suse - would your specfile work on both?
I don't know exactly if the two players and their childs are
understanding the same for 'normal' paths.
