I have the same problem. I used -i ndo2db working fine with Icinga 0.8.2
and PHP5.3 on RHEL4

But when I changed to newer Icinga 0.8.3 on Centos 5.3 (with PHP5.1) then
Nagvis no longer installs:

./install.sh -n /usr/local/icinga \
                -B /usr/local/icinga/bin/icinga \
                -m /usr/local/icinga/bin/ido2db \
                -p /usr/local/icinga/share/nagvis \
                -u apache \
                -g apache \
                -i ndo2db \
                -s icinga

+--- Checking prerequisites
---------------------------------------------------+
Icinga 0.8.3 found
Checking Backends: ndo2db
  NDO Module ndo2db (ndo2db) MISSING
