before you proceed asking anything else, provie accurate information on 
the things below

- os
- versions used
- rdbms
- what did you do your installing (git, tarball, packages)
- error logs

check the docs especially for hints on errors/tests/debugging.
and if this is not enough, check by https://wiki.icinga.org in the 
testing section where more deep down stuff is shared by developers.
